Appraisal

Revalidation is the process by which doctors have to demonstrate to the GMC that they are up to date and complying with the relevant professional standards. Revalidation will be based on a local evaluation of doctor’s performance through an annual appraisal.  The information from the appraisal will be fed to a Responsible Officer who will make a recommendation to the GMC.  Doctors must be revalidated every 5 years.

Only licensed doctors will have to be revalidated and information on the following sections must be provided:

  • Evidence of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) i.e. training course, performance reports
  • Quality improvement
  • Serious Untoward Events
  • Feedback from colleagues
  • Feedback from patients
  • Review of complaints and commendation

We can assist you with your revalidation, in the following ways:

  • Dedicated Responsible Officer and Revalidation Body that works with you individually
  • Appraisal meetings that are arranged around your availability
  • Training on appraisal and revalidation preparation procedures
